Medical Marijuana Consulting (MMC), a sub-branch of MMG, recently participated in the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association (OTLA) Fall Symposium. The prestigious event was held in Toronto, Ontario on October 19, 2018. MMC was extremely well received and was met with enthusiasm and support from the attendees. The Fall Symposium is an exclusive event that is extended only to Ontario Trial lawyers, and firm staff.
Assistant General Manager of MMC, Kirsten O’Brien, presented during the conference to bring to light the current situation that medical cannabis patients that have been involved in motor vehicle accidents face. Kirsten was asked to speak in the Law Clerk track regarding medical cannabis and its many benefits for those currently involved in litigation post-accident. Kirsten’s presentation focused on medical cannabis as an alternative to many traditional pharmaceutical interventions, and the common reasons clients are denied funding for medical cannabis treatment through their insurer.
This conference gave MMC the opportunity to educate personal injury lawyers and members of the rehabilitation community on medical cannabis as an alternative option to the traditional treatments for victims of motor vehicle accidents. Through her talk, Kirsten shed light onto the barriers encountered by clients in the province and the intensive requirements set out by accident benefits insurers for those seeking medical cannabis coverage.
MMC’s continued success in this sector has allowed MMC to become industry leaders in advocating for insurance coverage for all medical cannabis patients.
